The Story of Beer and Ale: A Video Guide

In 1994 when the micro-brewing revolution had firmly established itself in the Pacific Northwest and beer enthusiasts across the nation were discovering the beers of Europe as well as local beers, David Golden, our host Mark Sparks and I produced Beer and Ale: A Video Guide. It is now possible to buy the original VHS version for only .99 cents or a digitally remastered DVD for $19.95. Or download the complete program for only $5.00.

Micheal Jackson introduces you to the world of Beer and Ale

Oh, did I tell you that Michael Jackson, the great beer critic and author of Michael Jackson’s Beer Companion, was gracious enough to introduce the program? Recently I found the master tape and a few left over VHS tapes. We watched the tape and even though the pace is slower then we are used to today the information is as relevant now as it was 15 years ago. Let’s face it, classic beer styles like an Indian Pale Ale or a Smoked Porter are ageless.  So we digitally remastered the original tape and put it on a DVD. Because the original program was in Standard Definition we decided to keep it in that format. Up-converting it to HDTV would just make it fuzzy. But it will look great on any set you play it on. It’s available now for $19.95.

We also thought that some people may prefer the original VHS so we are making that available for only .99 cents plus shipping and handling.

So take a sneak peak at some of the scenes on Beer and Ale: A Video Guide, order your copy and heed the advice of Michael Jackson: “Why don’t you join me in the program about the new beer renaissance in the United States.”
